What is your educational background?

I graduated from a two-year dental hygiene program in Florida, then went on to get a Bachelor of Arts degree in biblical studies and public relations.

How long have you practiced dentistry?

Over 20 years in six states. My dad was a dentist and two of my sisters are hygienists so “the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.”

What is your current practice?

I work with one of the leading cosmetic dentists in the country, Dr. Ross Nash, at one of the most prestigious teaching institutes for Cosmetic Dentistry: The Nash Institute. I am a Patient Care Coordinator and Dental Hygienist. Whenever I have the opportunity to lecture, I include the importance of recommending products that will preserve the luster of cosmetic restorations, help prevent recession caused by highly abrasive over-the-counter products, condition the tissue and help patients maintain the cleanest, freshest and healthiest oral environment possible. And, of course, that’s what Oxyfresh dental products are all about!

What do you enjoy most about being a dental hygienist?

I love several things; but most of all it’s talking with my patients about the possibilities of creating a BEAUTIFUL SMILE for them. Technology and materials have progressed so much over the years. Most people WISH they had a nicer smile, but they never thought it would be possible for them. I also get excited about coaching them on how to care for their teeth and maintain their dental investment by using products that fit our criteria: alcohol free, low abrasion, dye free and nontoxic. That’s why we exclusively recommend the Oxyfresh product line. It is our “home care product of choice” for cosmetic dentistry; actually, for all dentistry. We see tremendous results, particularly related to tissue conditioning and healing. You can see some of them at OxyDental.com under Community.

When were you introduced to Oxyfresh?

I learned about Oxyfresh 10 years ago when I moved to Charlotte and went to work in an office that recommended Oxyfresh products. I had immediate results with my own four year old, totally eliminating his horrible, stinky breath. I had two crowns that had always bled when I flossed, even though I had great home care. A few weeks after starting on the Oxyfresh products I noticed they were no longer bleeding. I began doing my own clinical trial, making notes in patient charts, and was amazed by the results. I began confidently recommending the product to my patients and to other offices where I would do fill-in work. The response was so great I decided to become a consultant and do this as a business.

What is your favorite Oxyfresh product and why?

Professionally, I have to say the Super Fresh Breath Kit, which contains ALL my favorite products! Patients love it! If I had to choose just one, I’d say the Super Relief Gel because we get such amazing tissue response. We use it chairside and send it home with every cosmetic case. When people ask us about our “secrets of success,” we always tell them it’s the Dental Gel. We are just starting a lecture series on “mini implants” and the Dental Gel will be a cornerstone of the healing process. Oxyfresh Toothpastes and Mouthrinses are also essential to a successful home care program. I also love Primorye because of the benefits I see personally — I am far less stressed, more focused, and have more energy. My boys drink Primorye OTG to help them focus at school. And they use Primorye Gold before they perform on the ballfield or on stage. (One is a high-level baseball pitcher, the other a guitar-playing “rock star!”)

What are your hobbies and passions in life?

Hobbies? What I love most in life is supporting and coaching my kids through the game of LIFE. Being there for them, listening and supporting in tangible ways that are meaningful to them is what I love to do. That means I do lots of driving, watch lots baseball and listen to lots of music. My faith is foundational to all I do and core to who I am. I discovered through my time in Oxyfresh that one of my core values is adventure, so I am always trying to find a way to make whatever we do both FUN and ADVENTUROUS.

Who is the most influential person in your life that played a major role in your success?

Other than my Mom and Dad, who have played a lifelong role in supporting and encouraging me, I would have to say Oxyfresh President Richard Brooke. His Vision Workshop, and the outworking of that through conversations at conferences or casually on trips I have won through the company over the years, have played a BIG part in expanding how I think and re-opening my mind to forgotten dreams and possibilities. My Oxyfresh business partner, Anne Duffy, has supported me and kept me in the game. She has helped me grow and step into new, grander opportunities, like my position at the Nash Institute. Her friendship and encouragement have been invaluable. Over the past year, Dr. Ross and Debra Nash have enriched my life greatly by their passion for contributing to the lives of all those around them. I am so grateful.
