Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I do quite a bit of cosmetic dentistry in my practice. Can Oxyfresh help those patients?

Absolutely! Supporting cosmetics is one of the primary benefits of Oxyfresh’s clinical program. If your practice is like many dental offices today — placing many composite resins daily, doing many whitening cases weekly, and/or completing several veneer/laminate cases monthly — you’ve come to the right place!

Why? Think about this for a moment. When your patients leave your office after a cosmetic service/restoration and go to a store to purchase dental hygiene products, what do they usually buy? Chances are it’s one or more of the following:

  • Alcohol-based rinses that can dry the mouth, burn, degrade bonding agents, and/or shrink resins.
  • Abrasive toothpastes like whitening, smokers and tartar control pastes that are generally gritty and harsh on enamel.
  • Colored products that can stain the teeth.
  • Hard-bristle brushes that can abrade resins and other restorative materials.

Oxyfresh products contain no alcohol and are mild, pleasant tasting and neutralize odors at their source with ingredients like Oxygene® and zinc acetate. These products contain no colors, are low in abrasion (well below 100 RDA, the standard index for abrasivity) and use soft bristles as with the ADA-accepted Benefit™ Toothbrush. All of this makes Oxyfresh an ideal home-care program to support all your cosmetic services. Let’s face it — you and your patients want your excellent dentistry to be protected to maintain that beautiful smile for as long as possible!

Q. I don’t have many patients complaining about bad breath. Do I really need Oxyfresh in my office?

Even though Oxyfresh is recognized as a proven program to combat chronic malodor, it offers many other benefits and uses as well.

First, while all your patients may not complain about bad breath, they certainly all want the freshest breath possible. They also want something that doesn’t burn or dry their mouth … and something that tastes great and gives them a clean, healthy-feeling mouth. Oxyfresh does all that for them!

Second, because Oxyfresh doesn’t use alcohol or colors and is low in abrasion, it is ideal to support your cosmetic services and protect the investment your patients are making in their smile.

Finally, Oxyfresh is recommended and personally used by tens of thousands of dental professionals as the program of choice for safe, long-term dental hygiene and home care. It is the only major product line that combines cosmetic support, breath control and cavity-fighting prevention — so you can customize the best regimen for each patient, based on their dental history and treatment plan.

Q. I have some hesitation about selling products in my office. Will my patients think it’s unprofessional?

Dental practices across the globe have seen the benefits of customizing patient home care and are dispensing products. Most patients do not have the time to, nor can they, decide what to buy in the endless supermarket and pharmacy dental aisles. They look to us for guidance as to what is best to ensure the time and finances they have invested in their smiles.

By offering a safe and effective program, you take the guesswork out of your patients’ home care. You can also provide them with time-saving convenience and the added service of professional guidance and instruction from you and your team!

Consider this: When you go to other health professionals — dermatologists, chiropractors, even the veterinarian for your dog or cat — you expect them to carry products they feel are best for you (or your pet). You listen to and trust their professional recommendations. Your patients feel the same about you!

Q. I use chlorhexidine for my periodontal patients. How does Oxyfresh compare to it?

Oxyfresh does not make any periodontal therapeutic/drug claims. Our dental product line offers a safe and effective program for deodorizing and cleansing the mouth, along with excellent support for the cosmetic services you provide. Oxyfresh fluoride products also provide excellent cavity-fighting benefits.

Many dental offices that use Oxyfresh offer it as a long-term home care system for maintenance and prevention after the patient has been treated for an acute periodontal condition. We suggest you look through this website and check out the informative testimonials and articles written by some of your colleagues. You will learn more about how Oxyfresh is being used in their practices for general home care, prevention and oral health care maintenance.
